On 26 August 2007 the CC AIR Biker Friends took off in a big group to explore the scenery around the Mosel River. The morning sun already indicated that this was going to be a beautiful biker Sunday! Altogether, 23 Bikers, 9 Biker-babes and 3 of our youngsters showed up to join this beautiful Sunday ride. Everybody was prepared and looking forward to start the trip. Some of us were already prepared for a winter trip! We had to explain to Dodo that the winter is later in the year. We first took some group pictures before we fired up our iron horses to take course direction Mosel. We wove the long stretch of bikes like a snake through the winding roads that brought us through Baumholder followed by a piece of the nature park Saar-Hunsrück. At lunchtime we strengthened ourselves on the sunny terrace of the Weisser Bär in Mülheim which had a beautiful view on the Mosel. Then we continued our ride along the Mosel direction Cochem. We then divided into two groups. The faster bikers did an extra 30 Km for their dose of adrenaline and we all rejoined at the last fuel station.  The trip, over approximately 300 Km around the Mosel, was a very nice club ride. We had the Club spirit, good weather, nice roads and a safe return. Back in Rodenbach the Dutch Community prepared us a very nice barbecue with the necessary drinks. Therefore, on behalf of the CC-Air Biker Friends, I would like to thank those who contributed to the nice organization, and all the work they did to give us all a nice closing of a beautiful day.

Carver & M-Wood

We decided to surprise a biker friend on his wedding day. Coming out of the church the biker couple was fully surprised when the exit was filled with roaring motorbikes. As I heard later his hear stood straight on his back. The next surprise was his repaired race bike which he tested right away in his suit.

15 June 2007 the CC AIR Biker Friends organized a Charity BBQ for the Landstuhl Reha-Kindergarten. The event was a great success and thanks to engagement of the Biker Friends and the numerous guests, we were able to raise 1250 Euro. Everybody loved the idea to organize a BBQ to support a good cause. So we planned a date, printed some posters, started a presale of tickets and distributed the various tasks. We invited the Harley shop of Bruchmühlbach and the Honda shop of Homburg who were both very willing to support a good cause.

24-26 June 2007 the CC AIR Biker Friends drove of to France to experience the sensation of riding on a racing-track. Folembray is a racing-track in France where private courses are also provided for Bikers. On the 24th of June a few Bikers took of early in the morning direction France. When we hit the road at 1000 on Sunday, Joeri and I were very excited and glad that we didn‘t have to ride alone. The weather was OK, only clouds accompanied with a strong wind were riding with us. The ride up on the German side was very nice. We drove the first part on the highway towards Saarbrucken, Saarlouis and Luxemburg and continued on minor roads through Virton, Sedan, and Laon where the scenery changed to straight, flat roads, ending at our Hotel in Saint-Quentin around 1630. The next day at 0830 we left the hotel, looking forward to an exciting day on the track. Once we arrived, we had to sign up our group as beginners. Our first task was to ride between the obstacles, first slowly, then faster and faster. Next we did the brake and swerve (to the right or left as the instructor pointed out the last minute) test. The last test that we did was “one gear no breaks”. This means you take a gear that you think is suitable for you and you drive a whole tour in that gear. Just before the curves you brake only by releasing the gas handle, and you take the curve in a constant speed. The reason for this test is to learn to take your curve later and deeper. This was new and very beneficial to us. In the afternoon we had a few free rides on the track, while the instructors were riding between the group and giving us some tips in between. Not everything in the course was extremely instructive for us, but you can extend your skill on a track and believe me at the end of the day you will go easier in the curves and drive faster.  The only incident that happened was in the PRO group; one rider went straight ahead in a small curve. It was not a driving mistake, but he ran out of fuel and went straight on the grass court. Luckily nobody got injured. After a hard day and a good night sleep we hit the road back home the same way we came, only after the border we took the exit towards Mezig, Losheim am see, Weiskirchen, Hermeskeil, Birkenfeld, Baumholder, Kusel and then back home to Ramstein. After these three days we had about 1100 Km extra on our bike.

11-13 May 2007 the CC AIR Biker Friends took off for a 3 day tour. On the first day we went through the Black Forest direction Bodensee. The second day we cruised a little in the area known as Bregenzer Wald in Austria. The third day we headed back home through the Black Forest in a shorter variation. Those who were there have some nice memories engraved in their biker brains. For those who were not, feel free to ask about it. I’m sure that you will hear the complete story from the beginning ‘til the end and backwards if you want. Still, here is a little summary of our adventure. Friday 11 May 2007: Early in the morning, after a short briefing, we departed from Ramstein and “hit the highway” where we got the group organized. After only a few kilometers we left the highway to take the beautiful curving roads through the ‘Pfalzer Wald‘. Via Trippstadt and the most known Biker meeting place of the Pfalz, ‘Johanniskreuz‘, we continued south on the B48 direction Landau. South of Landau we took the highway A65 direction Karlsruhe / Strassburg. We left the highway and continued on the B9 to enter France. We then took the A35 for about 16 Km before we left on exit 56 to take direction into Germany towards Baden-Baden. Although it was predicted to get a lot more, we only got 7 drops of rain! We were able to shed our raingear as the sky began to open up the more south we drove. Before arriving in Baden-Baden we turned south again in the Bühlertal. From Bühl we continued to Freudenstadt, where we filled more than just the bikes ‘ tanks. A little heavier due to fuel, steaks and schnitzel we continued south direction Titisee on presumably the nicest roads of the Black Forest. Here we enjoyed the scenery and the improving weather via Wolfach and Lauterbach while continuing on the B500. At Titisee we had another break for a coffee and a cigarette before we tackled or last stretch to Friedrichshafen. Although the weather was dry, one of us (I will not mention his name) had to test if his helmet was water proof on this last stretch. The result? While his helmet was impenetrable from the outside and nothing could come through, it cannot be guaranteed that nothing will escape from the inside. More details upon request and after approval from the tester himself. Via Zollhaus, Singen, Stockach and überlingen along the Bodensee we arrived after 516 Km in our Hotel ‘Zum Frieden ‘, a little north of Friedrichshafen. We parked the bikes and after a good shower (how else could it be?), we discussed the experiences of the day accompanied with a local beer. Later in the evening we moved to our group table in the dining room. After a nice meal and some local beers, most of us chose to take their well deserved rest. A select group decided to empty the hotel’s liquor bar before diving into their beds and “sawing some logs”. Saturday 12 May 2007: Strengthened with a good breakfast, we hit the road again at 0930 hours to enter Bregenz (three times, as Krit liked it very much). We found our way over the Pfaender and entered a little deeper into Austria. We enjoyed the scenery via, Rankweil Wolfurt, Schwarzach, Egg and Bezau. .)In Au we turned right direction Damüls, where Jean got a little tired and decided to have his bike towed back to Belgium by his insurance company. (Jean & Jeanine, we are all so glad that neither of you were injured! At the end, that is the most important! The rest can be fixed After some delay we changed the plan a little and continued our way on nice curving roads passing through Rankweil, Hohenems, Dornbirn and Bregenz back to our nice hotel “Zum Frieden” . There we were able to enjoy a delicious Pirate-style dinner table after having 234 Km of mountain roads behind us. This night, only a select group of 3 volunteered to extend the gasoline talks to taste the new liquor stock that was bought the same day. Upon request from the Hotel management, these 3 volunteers went to bed a couple of hours before they actually wanted to, but they were probably ready for it. Sunday 13 May 2007: Krit allowed us to enjoy our breakfast before he took us back over 400 Km of nice roads passing Sigmaringen, Rottenburg am Neckar, Herrenberg, and Calw, joining the highway again at Pforzheim to gain some kilometers up to Landau. At Landau we left the highway to enjoy some additional nice roads via Annweiler and Pirmasens, turning north to Waldfischbach-Burgalben, Schopp, and Hohenecken, finally arriving in Ramstein by 1800. After a total of 1150 kilometers in three days we finished the day with a drink at the Paradox. Reflecting back on the three days, we realized how wonderful these days were - spending time with friends, sharing the same passion and enjoying the same sceneries. We all returned home knowing that we now share the same memories - memories that nobody can ever take away. One thing was for sure: we will do this again! A special thanks to everybody who helped to make this possible, and all of you who joined, for the good time we had together, your discipline and good spirit on and off the road.
