On Wednesday 18 Aug 2010, CC Air Biker Friends had to say goodbye to our treasurer and secretary. Scapman and Joeri have to move back to Belgium since their tour in the beautiful Ramstein area has ended. So after four years of dedicated membership we regretfully had to say goodbye to two of our founding fathers’. After a beautiful 100 Km tour we met up with Scapman, Sabine & Joeri at Maxi. Here we presented the leaving gifts and had dinner & drinks whilst talking about all the beautiful rides and good times we had since the clubs early days. So the night at Maxi was a bit longer than usual, but at the end the goodbye words had to be used. But to make us feel better they promised to join us as honorary members whenever they get the chance. A big biker friends ‘THANK YOU’ for all the work you’ve put into the club. Your shoes will not easily be filled!!! All the best for the future and hopefully the roads will lead to us on occasion.

To have a successful event, you need 3 basic ingredients: A good Team, Good weather and the perfect crowd. We had all three of them so this years event had to be a success and as you can read below, IT WAS!!!

About 130 bikers showed up for the sports and cruisers tour in the morning. Jean took the sports group for a nice 200 Km ride and the cruisers followed my lead for 142 Km through Rheinland Pfalz before we all headed to the Belgian Club (Bldg 308 at RAB) for a bite, a drink and to play some games, all in order to raise some funds for the kindergarten “Noah’s Arch” from REHA Landstuhl.

Due to the success of the event, the lines at the BBQ and bar were a little longer than foreseen but I was told that it was worth the waiting as our team of cooks and bartenders did a splendid job and young and old enjoyed the afternoon.

We also had lots of fun during the different games. Our own motorcycle instructor “Gunner” won the Slow rider contest. Our Vice-President, “Carver” had the best tactic during the Tire Throwing and the final of the Nail hammering was a big and tight clash between two Presidents where MC Hoeselt (Belgium) walked away with the 1st price.

Although it was a very warm afternoon, some board -and other members managed to keep their heads cool as they where the chosen ones to sit on and in the dunk tank. Also our youngsters had the chance to cool of in the dunk tank after jumping them selves in sweat on the Bounce castle.

In the late afternoon, The Clay Crott’s Band entertained us with some nice live music and by midnight, the last bikers left the event in a Taxi ;-)

Please allow me to thank some people who helped to make this event unforgettable:

Organization: Thank you CC-Air Biker Friends and other volunteers from the Belgian Community. Without you this would not have been possible. Special thank you to the Belgian Support Unit Commander for letting us use the Belgian facility and tents, free of charge.

Special donators: Pentagon Car Sales, M-Flight, KINGZ MC, and everyone who donated, but could not make it to our event, thank you for your generosity.

Dealerships: Harley-Davidson (Saarbrücken), Kawasaki (Motorcycles America), Honda Gerhard Wacker (Homburg-Einöd), BMW Dexheimer (Kaiserslautern), Ghettoblasters (Pirmasens), Personal Touch Airbrush Design (Kaiserslautern), thank you for coloring our event and donating the prizes for our Raffle and games.

And of course a special thank you to all families, friends and fellow biker groups who supported this good cause.

Finally, I am proud to announce that the outcome of his years charity event is:  2296,48 €

During the NATO family day (30 Jun 2010), some more money was razed and donated by the CC-Air Biker Friends and the NATO Civillian Community. So the final amount that will be given to Noah’s Arch (REHA Landstuhl) =2.534,78 €

CC-Air Biker Friends

On Saturday 15 May 2010, 12 CC Air biker friends gathered at 10 AM on the old lemon lot to have the first bike blessing in the history of our beloved club. The plan was to have a short ride followed by a bike blessing, have lunch and then ride out to Vogelweh for Gunners safety course. After a week of rain we were blessed to have dry roads and Gunner led us on a 69 Km ride to start the day and to wake some of us up. We arrived at MAXI around 11 o’clock and lined our bikes up to be blessed by Pastor Larry Burns Jr. Our friend Larry subsequently led us through a small ceremony, where he proved that Jesus would be a biker if He had lived now, and blessed us and our bikes for a safe season. After the blessing ceremony, we sat down in MAXI, where to our surprise, the pizza was offered on the house. So to follow the trend our president decided that the club would pay the drinks. This resulted in some very happy and satisfied CC Air bikers, joined by Larry and his wife Dorothy. So big thanks to MAXI and the club for a great lunch!!! Around 1 PM, 09 biker friends rode out from MAXI to attend Gunners’ safety course on Vogelweh. Upon arrival it became clear that the motorcycle training site had been double booked and was in use by the US Air Force motorcycle course. We decided to not disturb the class and 07 of us decided to take Pastor Larry and his nephew Stephen (and girlfriend) on a typical CC Air Biker Friends tour. Jürgen took the lead for a 134 Km tour through the beautiful wine area around Miesenheim. This was very much appreciated by our US guests who genuinely enjoyed every meter of the ride. Around 1630 we arrived back at MAXI to end a beautiful day amongst friends with some coffee and refreshment. Overall a new safe season start was celebrated with over 200 Km of tarmac under our wheels and friendship as the icing on the cake.

9 CC-Air Biker friend members (6 pilots and 3 spectators) showed up to define who would be this year’s Go-carting champ. Never the less his comment in the forum: “I’m looking forward to kick your a***s again”, last year’s champion Carver could not defend his title due to unforeseen circumstances.

We decided to go for 2 x 10 min Qualifying and a 20 min Race.

After the first qualifying heat Dietrik was leading, followed by BladeRR, Gunner, Scapman, Angie and John.

After the second qualifying, BladeRR was in pole position, followed by Dietrik and Scapman.

Everyone expected a break between qualifying and race, but the track director thought we’re all in the military and in good shape, so we wouldn’t need any break.

So straight after qualifying we took our starting positions and the 20 min race started. BladeRR had the best start, but behind him Dietrik and Scapman were fighting for second place. After the second corner Scapman managed to pass Dietrik. They both fought the entire race but at the end Scapman was the winner of this duel. Meanwhile BladeRR already passed the finish as the winner of this Race. In the background Angie and John were also fighting not to finish last.

After the race some of us were having problems getting out of their carts with back, shoulders and arms complaints. Some of us are getting to old for this ….

The A7 division from CC-Air had a race session before us, and we noticed that we were about 3 seconds faster. So riding a bike definitely makes you ride faster.

Thanks to our President M-Wood, Mike and Jürgen for taking pictures and supporting us from the pit lane.

Today’s participants of the safety course couldn’t have picked out a nicer day. Nice temperatures, lots of sun and good company. Thanks to these ingredients and because of our talented instructor “Gunner” of course all 11 of us learned a lot about motorcycle safety in a couple hours before we were declared safe to hit the road direction Maxi for a well deserved drink and meal. A big thank you to all participants and two thumbs up for Gunner for the good riding and safety tips. Hope to see more of you on the second safety course in May.
